I took mom and dad over to their former home today.

It was the first time they had seen it since they moved.

Messy piles are everywhere; some for my sisters, the rest, to be donated.

It was sad to watch them go through the remnants of their life.

But someone mentioned lunch

and they both hopped in the car and didn’t look back.

I think they are adjusting very well

And that makes me happy.

My last two days here, will be spent cleaning out the old home

then, my work here will be done.

Oh, I don't like looking at those pictures. I wasn't prepared for that :-(

I'm in shock.
It's one thing to say they have moved out BUT to see the house this way...... I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight!

This was the house I came to pick you up for our first date, and our wedding reception was here, and the babies grew up here.......oh my.

THIS IS DIFFICULT.

Yeah this is definitely weird. It's going to feel how it felt when I drove through Oakhurst back in May. Floods of happy memories, with a bit of a haunted feel since I couldn't just walk up to the door and allow myself in. I'm glad they're taking it so well though.

Thank you for the reminder to get my "stuff" gone through before they begin to ask, "why did you want this mom?"

;.)

When I think of your Fresno home, I think of the blue wallpaper in the kitchen! I picture how the other rooms were decorated, and I think of the cozy backyard. All were an expession of Aunt Toni's (Naomi"s) touch. Thanks for showing us, (even though difficult in some ways), the closure to this part of their life. It's been uplifting to see the opening of the new part of their life at their new place. It now holds the most special things that they treasure, and it feels like home. How cute that they were ready to 'go home' for lunch after 'visiting the old homestead'!

I remember the sick feeling of seeing a for sale sign at my Grandma's house after she died. I still don't like seeing that house and not being able to go inside.
