Mike and Marci came to visit this weekend.
It was so nice to see them and have some special time with our grand babies.
They will be in Florida for Thanksgiving (Marci's brother, Mack and Cheryl are getting married)
so it was nice to get a visit in before Christmas.
Chrissy and Zach came over too.
I love the sound of 3 different conversations while everyone is gathered in the kitchen
.... these are my favorite days. We missed you, Brittany and Ili.
We always have lots of laughs
...and enjoy good food
I love it when my living room is full of toys and babies.
When I am cleaning after they are gone, I find little toys in odd places, like window sills,
....and it always makes me miss them.

Saturday, Chloe, Papa and I (Meema) had a fun getaway with the babies;
we rode the train at Brackenridge Park,
then strolled around the Japanese Tea Gardens.
It is built in an old limestone quarry, so it is sunken below street level.
Everything ....bridges, walkways, and pagodas ....is built from limestone.
It is a unique San Antonio twist on the classic Tea Garden;
I love the tropical landscape and coy ponds.

Steve's dear father, Tom, is in the hospital.
Steve flew out on Sunday to visit him, knowing it would probably be the last time.
We love Tom very much and our prayers are with him, Lois and the entire family.
Even when they have lived a good, full life,
we are never quite prepared to say goodbye to our loved ones.

It was sort of a bitter sweet weekend... so fun being with the tinies but sad that Dad left for California on such a somber note. Did you get the pics Michele took?

That does look fun and we missed you guys too. Without knowing your menu I made Cafe Rio this weekend so we did vicariously eat dinner with you :) I'm so glad dad took us all up to go to Fresno. We're praying for them too.
It was fun and way too short! When we got settled in last night I told Mike I wanted more enchilada casserole...yum :-)!
It's so nice to see how your family loves being with you and loves being in your home. I know I would! Love your dining room. Are your peacock feather arrangements up all year round or just in the fall? Did you make them? If so, what did you put in them? Looks like some hydrangea was included. Is there decor on your candelabra? When not sitting at the table, is it your table centerpiece? Also, the fork was on the right of the plate, and the knife on the left. I was trained that it should be the opposite! Your dining atmosphere is very inviting and pretty. Hope someday I can sit at your table. By the way, the rock work outside of your home is cool and really adds alot to your home's atmosphere. Looks like your planning to stay for awhile and that you really like Texas. Also, by the way, I made your lasangna recipe! We had the missionaries and another couple over for dinner. It was DELICIOUS and a thumbs up by everyone. Thanks ...
Miss Lynnie, it was nice to hear from you, as always:) You have such great decorator skill and I am glad you like my dining room. The feathers are pheasant, and yes, I made the arrangements and they are up year round. There are hydrangeas, magnolias (for a southern feel), sticks, and some filler. I have a couple of arrangements and the one on the buffet stays there. I have another for the centerpiece, with large hurricane candle holders flanking it. Right now, the centerpiece is gourds in a basket. The candelabra has dried bouquets of roses hanging from it...they are special because Steve gave them to me over the years. Forks and knives get switched around when a 12 year old sets the table, but I will personally fix it if you please come to visit :). So GLAD you liked the lasagna! Love you.
Oh, and I bet that first picture would make a gorgeous painting! (hint hint)
I've got some pheasant feathers, so maybe I'll try an arrangement! I see in my post I said peacock feathers. Sorry, I meant pheasant. I also have peacock feathers. Both I got from my mom. She collected such a variety of things, like your mom! Are your hydrangea dried or silk? As for the fork and knife, it does not matter to me where it is placed, as long as it is handy when I eat my Texas steak!
And, I bet that twelve year old set that table with love. How nice to have a helper. Oh! ... I went and got a new hair-doo, spending a hundred dollars! Can't say that I look like a hundred bucks! Your 'doo' is looking good!
