Last night, we were treated to dinner by my dear brother in law, John.
John has a most interesting job that brings him to San Antonio occasionally,
and when it does, we get to enjoy a visit with him.
I always look forward to his call:
"Hi Diane, it's your favorite brother in law".
He came over for a family dinner.
Then, a few days later,
he reciprocated by inviting us to dinner
at one of the nicest steak houses I've ever dined in.
The waiters wore matching black suits with gold ties;
lights were low, conversation soft.
There were fresh white linens and silverware and glasses Chloe wasn't sure what to do with;
and the food wasn't just served, it was presented.
When Chloe and I asked about the ladies room, instead of pointing, the waiter led us.
Then, I saw something I had never seen before,
red rose petals scattered in the sinks . . . so lovely, against the white porcelain.
While we were away, our waiter folded my napkin into a crown, Chloe's into a peacock.
We were offered our choice of steak knife from a velvet lined wooden box.
Sorbet was served between courses to freshen our palate,
and a fresh red rose was on my dinner plate . . . . I took it home.
It was a perfectly delicious and elegant evening.
Thank you, John, for treating us.
Our love to you and your family.

Talk about fancy! I hope he visits us sometime :-)!
That sounds Loooovely!
I told Zacho about this yesterday and he was pretty jealous :-)
Hi Diane! It's John, your favorite brother-in-law here! I hope Steve has finally finished his 24 oz. steak, (which was 4 times as big as the one you ordered...!) Glad you enjoyed the restaurant, and thank you for the great company, and for your hospitality to me when I was in town. Oh, and how did Chloe like her "New Zealand Chicken Tenders?" We should have tried the 8 oz. "Nigerian Shrimp." Next time...
Hey, like I said, we hope you'll come visit soon...there are a lot of fun things to do here. Love, John
It is Sat. night and I have begun my second attempt at finishing a 24 once, aged, New York Strip. With every bite I say "Thank you John!"
Seriously, that was a wonderful evening in downtown San Antonio. Fabulous food on a very intriguing occasion. Thanks John!
YUM!...is this referred to as eating "High on the Hog"?
No LaRee, It's really just "Eating like a hog." It was delicious!!!!
Wow and to think when I mystery shop the questions ask, "did your server point and describe the location of the restroom to you rather than just saying 'in the south corner,'" and look what your server did! What was the restaurant? It sounds like you guys have a lot of fun when John's in town! Maybe he'll come visit us in OKC if I start calling him my favorite uncle...
John has class! Add to that his intelligence and good looks, and you've got 'a beyond good combination"! His life experience is so interesting. ... I remember when I met him. He seemed too good to be true! But he is! I am so glad that he and Jennifer found one another. I think that they are a blessing for eachother. I really like the way John supports Jen with the children. Jen gets to expereince new and interesting things now. And may I add, John gets to experience Jen's inner and outer beauty; her kindness, gentleness, graciousness, and love. ... Anyway, the evening John provided for you was lovely.
