Tis the season

Photobucket

I have neighbors who put up their Christmas lights before Halloween.
I think these same people pay about 400 bucks to have them hung
. . . . so i guess they want to get their money's worth.

It bugs me to see Christmas decor up so early,
but I don't get too worked up over it,
because I would be worked up for 2 1/2 months
and that is a long time to be worked up.

I'm just saying, I love the Fall, and Thanksgiving, and Halloween,
and I think each holiday deserves it's space.

So, after Thanksgiving,
when we would really rather be eating left over pie for breakfast
(pecan pie truly is the breakfast of champions)
and napping,
we are up on ladders hanging ornaments.

I never feel like doing it, but I am always so happy when it is done,
and it always surprises me how fast I shift gears from gourds to garland and turkeys to tinsel.

Magically, when all the decorations are up a few hours later,
I am completely filled with Christmas spirit and
all I want to do is listen to carols, bake, and watch White Christmas.

You'd be surprised how much your neighbors really spent on that service...Kayley had to get estimates for the lady she nannied for in Dallas and it was $3,000...yep, you heard me right! Insanity.
I LOVE Christmas and would actually be ok skipping Thanksgiving, but I think it loses it's excitement if stretched out for too long.
The girls ask everyday if we are leaving for Meema and Papa's yet :-)! We are excited to come see it all in person!

I must say, being married to Zacho has made me get a whole lot more into Christmas than I think I'm naturally inclined to. Which is a good thing, I think. For some reason I couldn't get the first picture to show up?? I hope it was the stocking one, because if it isn't, you need to show off that fireplace too!

I love how you make our home look during the Christmas season! Each scene is so beautiful.
I do think we need a taller ladder for that tree.

i love christmas...i love everything about it. the food, the family, the decorations, the music, the anticipation (of gifts, giving, and bowl games)...i love the stories of christmas and just the feeling in the air. (especially if it's cold) it's just magical. your home with all those decorations is definitely a fun place to be. i already have fond christmas memories there. good times.

Beautiful. I love the tree - it's gorgeous. I agree with Steve .. you do need a taller ladder.

I love Christmas, but I wasn't ready to decorate this year. I love all my fall decor (which I never got around to blogging about) and I just didn't want to take it down. We've been in Utah the last 3 or 4 years for Christmas, so I haven't decorated since then. I realized this year that I don't have nearly as many decorations for Christmas as I do for Fall. I need to either be like Chrissy and make some cute stuff or I have some serious after chritmas shopping to do this year.

Miss Stefanie, I scrolled back through my photos and realized, with the exception of my nativity and dishes, all of my decorations were purchased at after Christmas sales...Target, Walmart and Pottery Barn are my favorite places!

Well in some neighborhoods I think people that have lights lit before Halloween just never took them down and decided to light them. In your parts however, I know they'd get a fine for leaving up lights! I like your cowboy Santa plate, I haven't seen that :-)

I never thought I would say this, but I started listening to christmas music too early this year and I got tired of it the first week of December. Luckily the break from it while on our cruise helped me appreciate it again, but next year I'll wait until after Thanksgiving.
