Girl with a Pearl Earring
Today is BRITTANY's birthday.
She is my first daughter.
Brittany LOVES a Party !
Brittany is beautiful, smart, and kind. She is one of those rare persons who is genuinely interested in how you are doing.
Brittany is without guile.
I almost lost her a few years ago. She was in a terrible automobile accident in Nevada while returning to BYU for her Junior year. After 3 weeks in a coma, 3 months in the hospital, a year of physical and speech therapy, learning to eat, talk, and walk again, she returned to us. It was a life altering family journey full of wrenching emotion, prayer, charity, hope, disappointment, miracles, waiting, and ultimately, a deeper testimony and pure love and gratitude for one another that we now, never forget to express.
We will never be the same.
I am thankful for the lessons.
I never want to go through it again.
It was Brittany's love for her Speech Therapist that made her decide to enter that field. It was a great day when we all returned to the hospital and she was able to stand before her doctors and therapists and tell them, herself, how grateful she was for their care. They shed tears of joy together.
The day Brittany was born I was so excited to have a real, live, perfect, doll to play with.
I made up a song for her called Momma's Little Dolly. I still remember the words. I still call her my Dolly.
First birthday

Last year, she married her sweetheart, Ili. We love Ili, he fits right into the family.

happy birthday to brittany! love the old photos :-)!
Thanks for the post, I love what you wrote and the pictures you used. You made me miss my old horse Cheyenne, and I haven't seen the pic of me and Ili, I love it and I love you ;)
Happy Birthday Brittany!
Wow reading what you wrote about Britts life made me "a bit misty" Brittany is a rare mix of sweet, tender, kind and yet driven to become a very accomplished woman. She is amazing.
I love you Brittany.
Hope your having a Happy Birthday Britt! We also had a horse in Blythe...nearly every kid in the neighborhood had a horse... Fun memories!
It made me misty-eyed too, dad. And I should clarify, Cheyenne wasn't actually my horse, just the one I saddled up and rode each week in my horse back riding lessons. I always wished I had a horse though, you were lucky LaRee :)
... I just need to pipe in again for a second... this post really begs the question "what was the song you made up for Brit?"
And lucky for you all, I will go ahead and serenade,
a-hem.
"Momma got a dolly, a dolly, a dolly! Momma got a dolly (something, something, something.)"
Thank you.
Thanks Chrissy.....I was wondering.
Happy Birthday Brittany!
Chrissy, the something, something, something is:
drum roll please.....
'I Really love her so'
Thank you ladies and gentlemen (bow from the waist)
I was too modest to brag about my lyric writing ability, but now that the cat's out of the bag...........
